In distinction to many indoor climbing halls in an urban context, this project relates directly to the natural landscape of South Tirol in an atmospheric and spacial way.

Form, three-dimensionality and lighting of the indoor climbing hall in Bruneck create an interior space reminding of valleys and dramatic peaks of the alpine world. Individual rock volumes accumulate to a canyon of rock walls, lit from above with natural day light. The carbon-free energy concept was developed with Transsolar Climate Engineering.

The geometries of the individual rock volumes follow one basic idea:
The rectangular shapes on the bottom and on top of every structure are twisted and create an architectural frame.

A special place: training courses on the gallery
The training area is part of the interior hall placed on a separate gallery.

Roof terrace: additional areas for training and exercising

Boulderhall: atmospheric lighting of the alpine world
Despite of a span of 19 m the boulderhall is planned column-free to meet demands of many different events.

Outdoor areas: climbing under the cantilevered roof
Under the protection of the roof it is possible to climb the exterior walls of the artificial mountain structures in spring and summertimes.
